THE STUDENT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE SUDE AKSOY HAS RECEIVED 2209-A SUPPORT

Our fourth-year the student of the Department of English Language and Literature Sude Aksoy was granted support under the TÜBİTAK 2209-A: University Student Research Projects Support Program with her project titled “An Eco-Critical Analysis of Percy B. Shelley’s The Masque of Anarchy.”

We congratulate our student Sude Aksoy, who will conduct her work under the supervision of Res. Asst. Murat Kabak, and wish her continued success.

DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE MEETINGS

The first of the meetings with the faculty members of our Department of English Language and Literature, organized by the English Literature Society, the official student society of our Department of English Language and Literature, was held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 15:00 in the Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall in the Ataköy Building on the Bakırköy Campus. Our Head of the Department of English Language and Literature, Assist. Prof. Ayşegül Turan, participated in the event as the speaker and gave a speech titled "Why Do We Read Crime Fiction?"

DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE STUDENTS’ CONFERENCE PARTICIPATION

Ege University Department of English Language and Literature and the Department of American Culture and Literature hosted the 13th “International Undergraduate Symposium” with the theme “Meta” on March 17-18, 2025.

At the symposium where 42 participants made their oral presentations, 7 students from the Istanbul Kültür University Department of English Language and Literature successfully represented our university.

"Gizem Serdar Ömür's Book Launch"

Gizem Serdar Ömür, one of the 2022 graduates of our Master's Program in English Literature, held a book launch event for her book published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing on Tuesday, May 21 at 15:00 at Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

Our undergraduate and graduate students showed interest in the conversation about the writing process and education of Serdar Ömür whose book is titled "Reconstructing Female Sexuality and Deconstructing Male Anxiety: Black Hole or Living Hall?"

We wish our graduate success in her endeavors!

LIZ LOCHHEAD's Blood and Ice was on Stage

Blood and Ice by Liz Lochhead, staged by our department's official student community "English Literature Society", was performed on Friday, 17 May at 15:00 in Prof. Önder Öztunalı Hall.

We would like to extend our gratitude to our guests who appreciated our students with their applause.

Istanbul Kültür University English Language and Literature Department filled its quota by 100% in 2021, according to the data of OSYM "Table-4 Higher Education Undergraduate Programs Taking Students with Central Placement in 2021". We congratulate all our students who have chosen our department and wish to see you all among us in a healthy and happy manner in the new academic year.
