In the İstanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Department of English Language and Literature, English literature and cultural traditions are examined in depth and analytical, critical and communicative language skills, especially written and spoken academic English are improved. In the Program, literary and cultural texts are also examined in terms of history and culture and many classical and contemporary texts are studied and interpreted. Students learn about the social, historical and cultural contexts in which these texts emerged and about the role of language and culture in the creation, dissemination and reading of these texts.Thus, it is aimed to raise individuals who know their own culture in the light of cultural and literary theories, test their ethical values in the light of universal values and are sophisticated, curious and well-educated on an international level.

Our graduates can continue their academic studies at a higher level and work in high schools and higher education institutions.  They have the opportunity to pursue different careers in the press, broadcasting and business world thanks to their critical thinking, ability to analyze and effectively write all kinds of texts and possess verbal English communication skills.
